Back up!!!

The blog has been down for a little while, but thanks to help from Tyler Jones (an 11 year old who's much smarter than me for this kind of thing), it's back up!!!!

I have sooooo much I've been working on over the past few months, I'll just post a few pics now and come back and add entries when my laptop battery isn't dying.

Have sewing machine, will travel......

This weekend, we went to Tulsa for a bowling tournament. So, of course, I had to take "Sewzanne" with me. :) Yes, she has a name. My machine and I have become very close this year and I think she's worked hard enough to earn a name. hehehe
Anyhow, I had orders to work on (not complaining, but I have a lot of those and I needed to get work done) so I took her with me. All the way to Tulsa. Sewzanne is a little loud, though, so I was worried about disturbing the rooms around me. Luckily, we were in the last room on the hall and I was able to get some work done without bothering anyone else. :)

Shawn keeps telling me that I need to take a break from orders and make something for myself. I think I'm going to design a cover for Sewzanne and even embroider her name on it. :)

On a side note, since my crafting business has been going, I have a new habit when I go out of town......Not only do I need to find the local Walmart, but I also have to find the local fabric stores. lol This time we found JoAnn's and I managed to spend only $27!! Oh, the joys of being a fabric hoarder. :D

Bad blogger......

Ok. I'm a bad blogger. :( I have been sooooo busy lately that I've let my blog fall to the wayside. :( And the more and more I explore other blogs, the more I think "I could totally write like that. I should post things like that, too." Well, here goes. Hope somebody's reading....

Over the past month or so, I've gotten several crafting orders for......Cakes! A good friend of mine has been teaching me her decorating techniques for the past year or so. The more I learn, the more I want to experiment. And with the orders I've gotten the past few weeks, I've had exactly that chance. The first major order was for an Airman returning home from the Middle East. His family wanted to celebrate his homecoming and his promotion to Tech Sergeant at the local bowling alley, and I felt really honored to be asked to make his cake. It's a simple white cake with strawberry buttercream filling and it was soooooo yummy!!! (and I don't even like strawberries!) I was really pleased with the way the flag turned out and everybody at the bowling alley was amazed. :)

Shortly after that, I was asked to make a cake for a friend's daughter's baby shower. At first she didn't know what theme she wanted, but later decided on a sailboat theme. This was my first time making a fondant baby! I have to admit, I've never tried it before mostly because the idea of a fondant baby creeps me out a little bit......In fact, several of the party goers jokingly tried to make the momma-to-be eat the fondant baby. :( I couldn't do it. This cake was chocolate and buttercream for the bottom tier and vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream on the top tier. It was a hit!! I didn't take a pic, but I also made a modest mommy cover for her shower gift. Hope she gets a lot of use out of it. Can't wait to meet the baby!!

I have soooo much more to catch up on posting, but sleeps calls....... More tomorrow!

New bowling set!!

LOVES the feeling of finishing a project and delivering it to happy customers/friends!! Today, I got to deliver this Paisley bowling set, and a bowling set representing a crappy football team ;), to my good friends Penny and Wayne. Each set has a ball bag, a pair of shoe covers, and an embroidered shoe bag. I'm almost positive that these sets will cause their bowling averages to increase by at least 20 pins! ;) lol Hope they enjoy!!!!

I LOVE making stuff for friends, and my friend, Hollie, is a big Razorback fan! She asked me a few weeks ago for a wallet and checkbook cover to match a tote bag I made for her earlier this summer, and I finally finished it!! She also wanted a messenger bag for her cousin. I had never made any of those items, but I love a challenge, so it was a great opportunity to experiment. Hope she enjoys!!

I'm sooooo excited!!!!

I'm a little late posting this, but my birthday present this year was an EMBROIDERY MACHINE!!!!

I've been using a friend's machine for my embroidery up until now, but sooooo excited to have one of my own to play with!!

Ok, so I actually made this diaper bag/wipes case set a few weeks ago. That's how busy my summer has been! I was sent a cell phone pic of the crib set from a friend of the parents-to-be. I just so happened to run across this fabric at my favorite fabric store, JoAnn's!! It matches perfectly! And the new parent's loved it! I wish I had bought more of it so I could make something for Kennedy.....
